Judges said the system had ‘transformed’ medicines management in care homes and had ‘real potential’ for wider application

Now in their 35th Year, the HSJ Awards are amongst the most keenly sought-after accolades in British healthcare, celebrating and promoting the finest achievements in innovation and practice.

Professor Clive Bowman, Chair of Invatec Health, commented:

“The Invatech team is delighted that ATLAS eMAR family of products has won the HSJ award. It is welcome recognition for the innovative and pioneering work the company has achieved in translating a system that enhances safety and efficiency affordably for care homes. We are very proud that the judges have recognised the positive impact of ATLAS in the face of strong competition.”

The winning Invatech Health entry was based on a joint submission by Invatech Health, Beacon Digital and Cardiff University in relation to its Welsh Government-supported project to implement and evaluate an innovative electronic medicines management system for care homes. The ATLAS eMAR products led to a reduction in 21 out of 23 error types and a reduction in medicines returned to pharmacies and a drop in overstocks at care homes, with an estimated potential saving across Wales of up to £4.6 million per year.
